The event will be held next Thursday, January 26, at 12:00 noon, in the Assembly Hall of the Rectorate and Social Council building on the Elche campus. The godmother of the new Doctor Honoris Causa is the professor of Organic Chemistry and director of the Bioengineering Institute of the UMH, \u00c1ngela Sastre.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-8824 alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/bioingenieria.umh.es\/files\/2023\/01\/Fred-Wudl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"160\" \/><br \/>Fuente: Archivo UMH<\/p>\n<p>Fred Wudl is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Materials Engineering at the University of California Santa Barbara (USA). He has worked, among others, with Robert Burns Woodward, who received the 1965 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on organic synthesis; as well as with Alan Heeger, Nobel Prize in Chemistry in the year 2000 for the discovery of the conductive properties of \u03c0-conjugated organic polymers, together with Alan G. MacDiarmid and Hideki Shirakawa.
