The professor and researcher at the Bioengineering Institute of the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) in Elche Eduardo Fernández has organized the conference ‘Towards an intelligent bionic eye: The emerging role of computer vision and AI for artificial vision’, within the seminar program of the Bioengineering Doctoral Program. Professor Michael Beyeler from the University of California Santa Barbara (UC Santa Barbara-USA) will give this talk tomorrow, Thursday, February 3, at 12:00 noon, in the Assembly Hall of the Bioengineering Institute, located in the Vinalopó building on the Elche campus.

The speaker has a degree in Electrical Engineering, a PhD in Computer Science from UC Irvine and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from ETH Zurich (Switzerland). Before joining UCSB in 2019, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Ione Fine (Psychology, Institute for Neuroengineering) and Ariel Rokem (Institute for eScience) laboratories at the University of Washington (USA), where he developed computational models of bionic vision. Beyeler currently directs the Bionic Vision Lab (https://bionicvisionlab.org) and is associate director of the Center for Virtual Environments and Behavior (ReCVEB), both at UC Santa Barbara. He focuses his research in the field of Computational Neuroscience and Computer Vision.
